Artichokes in Wakefield

The food, atmosphere, portion size along with the clientele were perfect,! Joe the Bartender was a horse of another color.. Just did not fit in this environment. He was so rude to all the guests loud and obnoxious making the guests not welcomed to even order a drink .. When he took his many cigarette breaks the entire mood was relaxed at the bar as it should be as his replacement were so helpful,. and friendly. Our vote is to get rid of him. He doesn't belong in a place like this..

While the service and servers were excellent, the food was not. I was quite surprised as I heard good reviews about it. Veal parm with ziti, the sauce was watery from insufficient drainage of the pasta. Veal was on the tougher side and the breading was thick and soggy, for lack of a better description. Sat at a high table in the bar, that was a mistake, not enough room for them to be called a table for two. Very disappointed.

The food was 4 star , had eggplant parm , fried artichokes In lemoncello sauce. It's the setting and the people that push it up to and easy 5 star rating. The bartender Joe (I think) made me feel right at home !

A very authentic Italian restaurant in the Wakefield area. Pros: The food was authentic, fresh and yummy. Very friendly people staff - willing to explain details and customize food that suites you.Cons: Depending on what you order, food can be expensive here. Limited vegetarian options.

Threw my sister a surprise party here. The staff was amazing, and the food was excellent! I don't live in the area, but I'd make a special trip to eat here again.

We have been to Artichokes about six times and have always been impressed with the food and atmosphere. Anything we have ordered has been done to perfection. If I lived a bit closer it would be one of my favorite stops.

We have loved Artichokes since they were in Malden, and followed them to Wakefield to their larger location. The warm salad and lobster raviolis are a consistent favorite and must try!

Good food, good portions good service. Been going here for years .Always a pleasure.

Lobster ravioli was amazing and a very generous portion. Wifey got the seafood fra diavlo. Tried that too, delicious. It was topped off with fast friendly service.

$26.00 for a Cesar Salad w a piece of thawed out Salmon, unacceptable.

Well I had a 6 person party that I planned for two weeks. A birthday combination anniversary party and spoke to hostess by the name of Gail. To reserve a cubby area for privacy. When we arrived the table was taken and Gail claimed to not know of our reservation So in anger we left and walked across the street to another restaurant by the name of Sabatinos. And had a great time with respectful staff and great food. So to Gail we gave Sabatinos our $400 dollar bill. And will never return to artichokes. Again. So rude. So unprofessional. If I could give minus stars I would.

The Best food. The owner works hard to make sure everyone is taken care of. Everything is always fresh and the drinks and wine selection are great. You will love it!!

I liked the atmosphere here. We dined with another couple and the waitress was very good about giving us all the time we needed without going and getting lost lol. 2 of us ordered off if the specials list, I had the stuffed veal chop over fresh home made facili pasta which was delicious. The other special was haddock and shrimp over fresh homemade angel hair pasta which, according to my friend was excellent. My wife had eggplant with also with the homemade. angel hair pasta and she loved it. My other friend had a fra diavolo dish which he put away completely. It was a bit over spiced for his taste but he enjoyed it never-the-less. I also had an Old Fashioned with Knob Creek Bourbon and it was very well made. I would not hesitate to go back here.

Every visit has been great! The food is amazing and the atmosphere is cozy. I loved the creamy gnocchi dish, ravioli in cream sauce and chicken broccoli ziti. They always have nice specials too!

Ok food but no substitutions allowed? Can't get a salad instead of pasta even if you are sensitive to gluten.

The artichokes were exquisite. What a lovely place to dine. What a fine choice of dishes. I loved the casual atmosphere and the service was grand. My servers name was Linus I highly recommend him.

Older restaurant could use updating decor, large servings of "meh" food. Crazy haired hostess, poor signage out front....

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND / DISAPPOINTMENT IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. Was told one week prior to dinner that party of 12 was ok (at 5:30pm on a Saturday night) and was told day of dinner that they could not accommodate us. Very rude to us and could not give any explanation why.

Excellent! I dig the vibe... Some classics from Etta James, Sinatra, etc. Downstairs had live music and patrons were having a blast. The decor was traditional. Service was wonderful. Very attentive, yet not overbearing. We showed up 20 minutes before closing timeFood was very good. I got the pork chop... Very big portion. 2 pieces. Very tasty, the potatoes soaked up the juices. Friends for pasta of all kinds. Also very decent portions.

Way overpriced for average and often cold or undercooked food! Go to sabitinos instead!
